Support Systems is an experience which combines social sculpture, dynamic weight and mindfulness. Whether emotional, economic or interpersonal, our support systems are a network of interconnection dependent on resilience and risk. During COVID-19 the experience of lost loved ones and economic uncertainty was, simulaneously, a time for the perseverance of friendship, goodwill and personal growth.

A demonstration took place at RIT CityArtSpace on September 2nd, 2022 as part of the opening reception for Sp(Arrows): Annalisa Barron and Taylor Kennedy. Participants were attached to the equivalent of their body weight in cement which held them just above the ground. The audio of each person discussing their experience of ‘support’ was played as they interpreted their words through movement.
